1-As Muslims we are ordered to be active and not lazy.=

-= The Qur’an orders Muslims to work and do good deeds

-= The companions gave their allegiance to the Prophet to work, whether active

-Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was active and not lazy

-= Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) encouraged us to work and earn an honest living

-= We should do our work to the best of our ability

2-The best worker is the person who is capable and trust-worthy

3-We should plan and organize, not just react to event= s

4-To be lazy is something to be avoided, it is un-Isla= mic, rather it is a characteristic

O= f the hypocrites

5-How can we become active and full of energy?

As Muslims we are ordered to be active and not l= azy

The Qur’an orders Muslims to work, be prod= uctive and hasten in good deeds

And say: "Work (righteousness)= : soon will Allah observe your work, and His Messenger, and the Believers: soon wi= ll ye be brought back to the Knower of what is hidden and what is open: then w= ill He show you the truth of all that ye did."

= ; At-Tawba 9: 105

And:

It is these who ha= sten in every good work, and these who are foremost in them. <= /p>

To be lazy= is un-Islamic and is against faith and is a characteristic of the hypocrites

The Qur’an emphasizes the importance of work and doing good deeds. We must confirm our faith in the way that we live our lives by being productive and reaching out to help those who need our help. In contrast the hypocrites are lazy and prefer their comfort than striving in the cause of Allah:

Those who were left behind (in the Tabuk expedition) rejoiced in their inaction behind the back= of the Messenger of Allah: they hated to strive and fight, with their goods and their persons, in the Cause of Allah: they said, "Go not forth in the heat." Say, "The fire of Hell is fiercer in heat." If only t= hey could understand!

&n= bsp; At-Tawba 9: 81

When a Sura comes down, enjoining them to believe in Allah and to strive and fight along with His Messenger, those with wealth and influence among them ask thee for exemption, and say: "Leave us (behind): we wou= ld be with those who sit (at home)."

&n= bsp; At-Tawba 9: 86

They prefer to be = with (the women), who remain behind (at home): their hearts are sealed and so th= ey understand not.

&n= bsp; At-Tawba 9: 87

When they come to prayers they come lazy. They give in charity only if they are forced to do so. They have no real faith, they only show off:

The Hypocrites, they think they are over-reaching Allah but He w= ill over-reach them: when they stand up to prayer, they stand without earnestne= ss, to be seen of men, but little do they hold Allah in remembrance;

&n= bsp; An-Nesa’a 4: 142

The only reasons w= hy their contributions are not accepted are: that they reject Allah and His Messenger; that they come to prayer without earnestness; and that they offer contributions unwillingly.

The Prophet’s companions gave their allegiance to work and be active, even when tired or not eager to work

Obada Bin As-Samit (may Allah be pleased with him) said: (We gave our allegiance = to Allah’s messenger (PBUH) to hear and obey, whether it is difficult or easy, and whether we are fresh or tired, or when someone else is favored; a= nd that we do not deny or compete against those who deserve to rule over Musli= ms; and to say the truth at all times, not afraid of blame)
Bokhari & Muslim.

We lean that we need to obey Allah and His messenger, whether we like it or no= t, and not give excuses that we are tired, and that we should not feel envious= or jealous of others.

Prophet Mu= hammad (PBUH) was active and not lazy

Al-Bara’a Bin Azib (may Allah be pleased with him) said: (I have seen the messenger of Allah (PBUH) carrying the dirt on the Day of Ahzab and the whiteness of the dirt concealing his arm pits)

Bokhari & Muslim

We learn from the Prophet’s behavior that we belong to a community and t= hat each person should be active and participate in the affairs of the community and help as much as he/ she can.

He was active in prayer. Aesha (may Allah be pleased with her) said when asked= how he prayed at night:

(He used to sleep the first part of the night, then stay awake the last part of= the night (Praying and saying Du’a), then he would sleep. When he heard t= he call to prayer he would get up quickly and pray two Rak’a) Bokhari &a= mp; Muslim

After he received the divine revelation the messenger of Allah kept on working, inviting others to Islam, explaining the message, leading by example and ne= ver stopped his work till he died.

In his Du’a he sought protection in Allah from laziness. He said: <= /o:p>

(O Allah I seek refuge in You from disabilities, laziness, cowardliness, covetousness, old age and from the suffering of the grave. O Allah give my = soul its righteousness and purify it, for You are the best to purify it, You are= its guardian and master)

Muslim

In this Du’a we understand that being lazy and disabled will affect our ability to work and earn a living, and discharge our responsibility. When we call on Allah He hears our Du’a and will help us if we are sincere.

Prophet Mu= hammad (PBUH) encouraged us to work and earn an honest living

The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said:

( It is better for one of you to cut wood, carry it on his back and sell it a= nd earn a living for himself, become self-sufficient and give in charity, than begging a person who may give you or deny you, for the upper hand is better than the lower hand, and start with those whom you are responsible for)

Bokhari & Muslim

The Prophet (PBUH) was giving an example of honest work. Any work that is done = with good intention and is lawful in order to earn a lawful earning and to become self-sufficient and not be a burden on others is recommended. Allah is a witness to our work and effort.

We should = do our work to the best of our ability

Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said:

Allah loves for every one of you when he does something to do it to the best of yo= ur ability and to perfect your work) Baihaqi

This means that we learn and understand the work that we do, and that we are act= ive and not lazy, and that we try to improve and not fall behind

The best of workers is the person who is capable and trust-worthy=

We learn from the Qur’an to hire or rely on those who are able to do the work, and those who have proven that they can be trusted:

Said one of the (damsels): "O my (dear) father! engage him on wages: truly the best of men for thee to employ is the (man) who is strong and trusty."

Planning a= nd organization are essential for success

In any work we need to understand our objectives, plan ahead and be organized = in order to be successful. We learn from the Qur’an how to plan being gi= ven the example of Prophet Yousef (Joseph) who solved the problem of famine in Egypt:

(Joseph) said: &qu= ot;For seven years shall ye diligently sow as is your wont: and the harvests that = ye reap, ye shall leave them in the ear, except a little, of which ye shall ea= t.

     &n= bsp;    Yousef 12: 47

"Then will co= me after that (period) seven dreadful (years), which will devour what ye shall have laid by in advance for them, (all) except a little which ye shall have (specially) guarded. <= /p>
     &n= bsp;    Yousef 12: 48

"Then will co= me after that (period) a year in which the people will have abundant water, an= d in which they will press (wine and oil)."

     &n= bsp;    Yousef 12: 49

Yousef diagnosed the problem and devised a plan where people save much of their cr= ops except for little that they eat, because there will come a time of famine w= here the land will not produce anything. What they saved during good times will = save them during these bad times.

What will = make us active and not lazy?

1-Uderstanding that faith in God means doing our work to the best of our ability

   And discharging our responsi= bility

2-Waking up early to praise Allah and to pray Dawn prayer will give us energy

   And make us active and not l= azy. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said:

(Satan puts three knots on the back= of your head when you go to sleep, saying:

“It is a long night, therefo= re sleep”. If you wake up and remember Allah one of

The knots becomes loose; if you do ablution the second knot is loosened; and if you pray all the knots are gon= e, and you become active and feeling good. Otherwise, you wake up feeling bad,= tired and lazy)

The Qur’an orders Muslims to work, be productive and hasten in good deeds=

“And say: “Work: soon will Allah observe your work, and His messenger and = the believers. Soon will you be brought back to the knower of what is hidden and what is open; then He will show you the truth of all that you did” At-Tawba 9: 105

“It is these who hasten in every good work, and these who are foremost in them” Al-Mumenoun 23:61

Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was active and not lazy

The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) was ve= ry active in prayer and stood up for hours in prayer at night. In his Du’a he sought Allah’s protection from laziness (O Allah I seek protection in You fr= om disabilities, laziness, cowardliness, covetousness, old age and from the suffering of the grave. We should do our work to the best of our ability

Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said: (Allah loves for every one of you, when he does something, to do it to the best of= his ability and perfect his work) Baihaqi

“One of the girls said: “O my father hire him, truly the best person to em= ploy is the person who is capable and trust-worthy” Al-Qasas 28: 26

Planning and organization are essential for success

This is how Yusuf (Joseph) solved the problem of famine in Egypt

“Joseph said: “For seven years you diligently cultivate the la= nd, but leave the harvest that you reap in the ear, except a little that you sh= all eat. Then will come seven dreadful years that will devour what you saved for them, except for little that you guard” Yusuf 12: 47 & 48

What will make us active and not lazy?

1-Understanding our responsibility     2-Doing the work= to the best of our ability

3-Waking up early in the morning giv= es us energy. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) told us how Satan places three knots on = our head when we go to sleep, urging us to remain in bed asleep. If we wake up = and remember Allah, one of the knots is loosened; if we do ablution, another kn= ot is loosened; if we pray all the knots go away, and we wake up active and fe= eling good; otherwise, we wake up not feeling good and lazy (Bokhari, Muslim & Ahmad)
