BEING ACTIVE, WORKING HARD AND NOT LAZY

BS FOAD, M.D. 2008

Muslims gave their allegiance to Prophet Muhammad ( PBUH )

( To obey at times of difficulty and times of ease; when they are active and when they are tired; and whether someone else is favored; and not to deny or compete against those who deserve to rule over Muslims; and to say the truth at all times, not afraid of blame ) ( Bokhari & Muslim after Ubada Bin As-Samit

Work and do good

And say : “ Work and do good deeds: soon will Allah observe your work, and His messenger and the believers; soon you will be brought back to the knower of what is hidden and what is open, then He will show you the truth of all that you did “ At-Tawba 9 : 105

Prophet Muhammad ( PBUH ) encouraged us to work and earn an honest living:

( It is better for one of you to cut wood, carry it on his back, sell it and earn a living to be self-sufficient and give charity, than begging a person who may give you or deny you, for the upper hand is better than the lower hand, and start with those whom you are responsible for ) Bokhari & Muslim

Do your work to the best of your ability

Prophet Muhammad ( PBUH ) said: ( Allah loves for every one of you when he does something to do your best and perfect your work ) Baihaqi after Aesha

The best worker is the person who is capable and trust-worthy

One of the two girls said: “ O my father hire him, for the best one to hire is he who is capable and trust-worthy “ Al-Qasas 28 : 26

Planning and organization

Yusuf said : “ You plant abundantly for seven years, but the harvest you reap you shall leave in the ear, except a little of which you eat. Then will come after that period seven dreadful years which will devour what you have prepared in advance for them except a little of what you have specially guarded “

Yusuf 12 : 47 & 48

What will make you active ?

Praying Dawn prayer will give you energy as Prophet Muhammad ( PBUH ) told us, in contrast to sleeping and waking up late and missing our prayers:

( Satan puts three knots on the back of your head when you go to sleep, saying: it is a long night, therefore sleep. If you wake up and remember Allah, one of the knots is loosened; if you do ablution, the second knot is loosened; and if you pray, all the knots are gone, and become feeling good and active; otherwise you wake up feeling bad, tired and lazy ) Bokhari & Muslim after Abou Horaira

The hypocrites come lazy to prayer, for their faith is weak

Prophet Muhammad ( PBUH ) sought refuge in Allah from laziness

( O Allah I seek refuge in You from disability, laziness, cowardliness, covetousness, old age and the suffering of the grave. O Allah give my soul its righteousness and purify it, for You are the best to purify it, You are its guardian and master. ) Muslim afterZaid Bin Arqam
